Where does one ever begin with these things.  If I had to put myself in a box of definition I am a strong Buddhist, following the principles of loving-kindness and compassion for all sentient beings.  I am strongly opinionated when it comes to matters of social and environmental importance, justice, liberty, freedom, human rights, religious and personal freedom, access to food/water/sanitation/housing, etc.   I believe in “Engaged Buddhism”, that we all have a responsibility to protect, preserve, and promote life.  Drop me a line, and ask me more, or tell me about yourself.  I am passionately interested in the human story, I would be interested to hear yours.  You never know we might even be of the same mindset on many things.

At the end of one of his talks someone from the audience asked the Dalai Lama, “Why didn't You fight back against the Chinese?”  The Dalai Lama looked down, swung his feet just a bit, then looked back up said with a gentle smile, “Well, war is obsolete, you know.” Then, after a few moments, his face grave, he said,  “Of course the mind can rationalise fighting back… but the heart – the heart would never understand.
